My name is Samuel Lovinski, an yes, that is me there,
of course that is me @ 3 1/2 years old. I am now 26 year old, born
in Manhattan,
NY, and raised in Sterling,
Illinois. It is a small community, about 15K,but I like it.
I am glad I was raised in a town where I could enjoy every moment of my
childhood.
In 1993, I started my college
education. It was here, that I was introduced to the magical
world of computers. I must say that I was intrigued, by this machine.
I was fascinated at how powerful this machine can be, while at the same
time it is nothing but an expensive bookend or paperweight. The effectiveness
of the machine was in the hands of the mind behind it. ( kinda like the
'ol addage, "..Computers don't run the world, It's the people in front
of the computer that run the world.")
It was in this time at Sauk Valley Community College,
that my world was broadend. It was here that I met a good friend,
Tim Logeman. He had been going to the College for a year when I met
him (my first semester), and his father was an instructor. He was
very familiar with the college and the people there. I was working,
but I made sure that I spent at least 2 hours a day in the computer lab,
watching, asking questions, and learning from those who knew more than
I. I began spending time with a group of people that enjoyed opening
up the computer, and playing with it. I soon developed a knack for
it. I was by no means an expert, but I knew some basic tech. knowledge.
In 1996, I moved to Washington,
DC. to enroll in Strayer University's
Computer Information Systems-Network Certificate Program. In a span
of 4 months I was working as a computer lab assistant for Strayer, and
eventually became the lab manager. It was the first time that I ever left
home for such a long time. I met alot of people there, and made some
real friends.
